1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how BizSensei Digital ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website, bizsensei.co.in, and across our products and services. It describes what cookies are, why we use them, the types we use, and the choices you have to control them.

This policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains in detail what personal information we collect, how we use it, the legal grounds for processing under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology Act, 2000, and your rights as a data principal. Where this policy refers to personal data, it means any data about an individual who is identifiable, as defined under the DPDP Act, 2023.

BizSensei Digital is a digital agency and software studio serving clients across India. Our website includes service pages, a blog, a shop, a plugin store, contact forms, and 20 free online tools. We also provide products such as BizSensei OMS (our restaurant management software) and downloadable plugins. This policy applies to the website; product-specific cookie use is described separately in Section 6.

2. What Are Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit it. The next time you visit the same website, your browser sends the cookie back to the site. This lets the site recognise your device and remember information about your visit, such as whether you are logged in or which language you prefer.

Cookies cannot harm your device. They do not contain viruses, and they cannot read other files on your device. They simply store small pieces of information that help websites work properly and remember your choices.

Besides cookies, websites sometimes use related technologies that serve similar purposes:

  • Local storage and session storage: browser storage that holds slightly more data than a cookie and is never sent automatically to the server.
  • Pixels and web beacons: tiny, usually invisible images embedded in a page or email that tell the site owner when the page or email was opened.
  • Tags and scripts: small pieces of code that perform functions such as measuring visits or loading embedded content like videos or payment forms.

For simplicity, this policy uses the word "cookies" to cover all of these technologies unless a distinction is needed.

2.1 First-party and third-party cookies

First-party cookies are set directly by the website you are visiting, in this case bizsensei.co.in. We use these for core functions such as keeping you signed in to the admin area and remembering your cookie consent choice.

Third-party cookies are set by a different organisation when you visit our site. This happens when a page includes content or services from another provider, such as an embedded video or a payment checkout. These providers may set their own cookies to make their services work. We do not control those cookies, but we identify them in Sections 4 and 5.

2.2 Session and persistent cookies

Session cookies exist only while your browser is open. They are deleted automatically when you close the browser. We use session cookies to keep track of temporary information, such as a short-lived security token during checkout.

Persistent cookies stay on your device for a set period (for example, 30 days or 12 months) or until you delete them. We use persistent cookies for things that need to be remembered between visits, such as your cookie consent choice or your preferred theme in a logged-in dashboard.

3. Why We Use Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes. Each purpose is matched to one of the cookie categories in Section 4, where we list the specific cookies involved.

  • Security and fraud prevention: to protect your account and our services, for example by detecting unusual login activity and preventing cross-site request forgery (CSRF) on forms. These cookies are strictly necessary and cannot be switched off.
  • Essential website functions: to remember that you are signed in to the admin area, to keep items in your shop cart while you browse, and to protect form submissions. The site cannot work properly without these.
  • Preferences and convenience: to remember choices you make, such as dismissing the cookie banner, your dashboard layout, or the language or currency you selected. These make repeat visits smoother but the site still works without them.
  • Analytics and performance: to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use our website, which pages are popular, and where people drop off. This helps us improve the site. We configure analytics to avoid identifying individual visitors wherever possible, and these cookies are only set with your consent.
  • Functionality from third parties: to make embedded features work, such as the Razorpay checkout on payment pages. These cookies are set by the third-party provider and are required for that feature to function.

We do not use cookies for behavioural advertising, and we do not sell cookie data. Where a cookie is not strictly necessary for the site to work, we ask for your consent first, in line with the consent requirements of the DPDP Act, 2023.

4. Types of Cookies We Use

The cookies on bizsensei.co.in fall into four categories. The table under each category lists the cookies we actually set, what they do, how long they last, and who sets them. Durations shown are maximums; a cookie may be removed earlier if you delete it or if its purpose is fulfilled.

4.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually set only in response to actions you take, such as signing in, submitting a form, or setting your cookie preferences. They do not store directly identifiable personal information. Because they are essential, they are set without asking for consent.

4.2 Functional cookies

These cookies remember choices you make so the site can offer a more personal experience. Blocking them may make some features slower or less convenient, but the site will still work. These cookies are set only with your consent.

4.3 Analytics and performance cookies

These cookies help us measure visits and understand which content performs well, so we can improve the website. They collect information in aggregate form where possible, and we do not use them to build advertising profiles. These cookies are set only with your consent, and you can withdraw consent at any time.

Note: if you reject analytics cookies in our consent banner, no analytics cookies are set at all. We do not fall back to fingerprinting or other workarounds.

4.4 Marketing cookies

We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies on bizsensei.co.in. We do not run behavioural advertising, we do not participate in ad exchanges, and we do not share cookie data with advertisers. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before any marketing cookies are set.

5. Third-Party Cookies

Some pages on our website include features provided by other organisations. When you load such a page, that provider may set its own cookies on your device. We list the main cases below. These providers have their own cookie and privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them.

  • Analytics providers: as described in Section 4.3, we may use a third-party analytics service to measure website usage. Its cookies are set only with your consent. You can also opt out directly using the provider's own opt-out mechanism; see Section 7.3.
  • Embedded content: blog posts and pages may occasionally embed content such as videos. Playing embedded content can cause the embedding provider to set cookies (for example, to remember playback preferences). We load embeds in a privacy-friendly way where the provider supports it, so cookies are generally set only if you choose to play the content.
  • Razorpay checkout: when you pay for a product or service on our website (for example, a plugin or an OMS plan), the payment step is handled by Razorpay through an embedded checkout. Razorpay may set cookies that are necessary to process the payment securely, detect fraud, and remember your payment session. These cookies are required for the payment to complete; if you block them, you will not be able to pay online. Razorpay's own privacy policy governs those cookies.
  • Hosting and security services: our hosting provider may set technical cookies for load balancing and bot protection. These are strictly necessary and short-lived.

We do not allow third parties to set advertising or profiling cookies through our website.

Important: third-party cookies and tracking are the responsibility of the respective third-party providers, and are governed solely by their own cookie and privacy policies, not by this policy. BizSensei Digital does not control, and is not responsible for, how these providers collect, use, or retain data through their cookies. We select reputable providers and describe their role here in good faith, but to the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim all liability for third-party data practices, including any loss or harm arising from their cookies or tracking technologies.

6. Cookies in Our Products

In addition to the public website, we operate software products that also use cookies or similar storage. The key points are summarised here; product-specific details may also appear in the product's own documentation.

6.1 BizSensei OMS

BizSensei OMS is our restaurant management software, delivered as a hosted web application (portal) and as a WordPress plugin that connects to the portal. When restaurant staff use the OMS dashboard:

  • A session cookie keeps each staff member signed in during their shift and records their role (for example, admin, manager, cashier, or waiter) so the system shows the correct permissions.
  • A remember-me token (a long-lived, securely hashed cookie) is set only if the staff member ticks "Remember me" at login. It allows the browser to restore the session on a trusted device.
  • Preference cookies remember choices such as the active branch, the selected language, or the KDS (kitchen display) layout for that device.
  • OMS does not set analytics or marketing cookies inside the staff dashboard. Aggregated, non-identifying usage statistics may be collected server-side to keep the service reliable, as described in our Privacy Policy.

6.2 Admin and team areas

The website admin area and the OMS team portal use strictly necessary session cookies to keep administrators signed in and to protect against CSRF attacks on management actions (such as issuing licences or managing restaurants). These areas are not public; they are used by our team and by authorised client staff.

6.3 Customer-facing ordering pages

Public ordering pages (for example, QR-code menus used by restaurant customers) use a short-lived session cookie to hold the current order while it is being built. No marketing cookies are set on these pages.

7. How to Manage and Delete Cookies

You are in control of cookies on your device. You can manage them through your browser settings, through our consent banner, and through provider opt-outs.

7.1 Browser controls

Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies. Blocking all cookies may break parts of the site (see Section 8), so many people choose to block only third-party cookies instead. Brief steps for current browsers:

  • Google Chrome: open Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies (or "Cookies and other site data" on older versions). You can block third-party cookies, block all cookies, or add exceptions for specific sites. To delete existing cookies, choose "Delete browsing data".
  • Mozilla Firefox: open Settings, then Privacy and Security. Under "Enhanced Tracking Protection" you can choose Standard, Strict, or Custom. The "Cookies and Site Data" section lets you clear stored cookies and manage exceptions.
  • Apple Safari: on macOS, open Safari Settings (or Preferences), then the Privacy tab, where you can block all cookies or manage website data. On iPhone or iPad, go to the device Settings app, then Safari, and use the Privacy and Security options.
  • Microsoft Edge: open Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then "Manage and delete cookies and site data". You can block third-party cookies, block all cookies, or clear cookies when the browser closes.

For other browsers, look for "cookies" or "privacy" in the browser's settings or help pages.

7.2 Our consent banner choices

When you first visit bizsensei.co.in, a cookie banner asks for your consent to optional cookies. You can:

  • Accept all: allows functional and analytics cookies in addition to strictly necessary ones.
  • Reject optional cookies: allows only strictly necessary cookies. The site remains fully usable for browsing, reading the blog, and using the free tools.
  • Change your mind later: you can revisit your choice at any time by clearing the cookie_consent cookie (see Section 7.1) or by using the "Cookie settings" link in the website footer, where available. The banner will appear again so you can make a new choice.

Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and it takes effect immediately for future visits. Cookies already stored will remain until you delete them through your browser.

7.3 Opt-out links for analytics

In addition to our banner, you can opt out of analytics directly with the provider. Most analytics providers offer a browser add-on or a settings page that stops their cookies from being set on any site, not just ours. If we change analytics providers, we will list the current provider and its opt-out link here.

8. Consequences of Disabling Cookies

If you block or delete cookies, parts of our website and products may not work as intended. Specifically:

  • Strictly necessary cookies blocked: you will not be able to sign in to the admin area, the OMS dashboard, or the team portal; items in your shop cart will be lost as you navigate; contact and checkout forms may fail security checks and refuse to submit.
  • Session cookies deleted mid-visit: you may be signed out unexpectedly, or a checkout or payment flow may restart from the beginning.
  • Functional cookies blocked: your preferences (theme, dashboard layout, recently used tools) will not be remembered, and the cookie banner will reappear on every visit because we cannot record your choice.
  • Analytics cookies blocked: no visible change for you; we simply lose the aggregated statistics that help us improve the site.
  • Razorpay or other third-party cookies blocked: online payments will fail, and embedded content such as videos may not load or play.

Use at your own risk: our website and tools are provided as-is. We do not warrant that cookie-dependent features will work in every browser, browser version, device, or privacy configuration. If you choose to disable cookies, you accept any resulting degraded functionality, errors, or loss of convenience at your own risk. We are not liable for any loss, cost, or inconvenience arising from your decision to block or delete cookies.

9. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal that asks websites not to track your browsing. There is no universally agreed standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, and most providers interpret them differently or ignore them.

We do not currently alter our cookie behaviour in response to DNT signals. Our consent banner (Section 7.2) remains the definitive way to control optional cookies on our website: if you reject optional cookies, we do not set analytics or functional cookies regardless of any DNT setting. As with all cookie-dependent features, DNT-related behaviour is provided as-is and we make no warranty about how any particular browser's DNT implementation interacts with our site.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may change how we use cookies, and this policy, at any time and without prior notice. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, where practical, highlight the change in the cookie banner. Your continued use of the website after a change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

Because cookie usage may change without prior notice, we encourage you to review this policy periodically. If a change materially expands the categories of cookies we set (for example, if we introduce marketing cookies in the future), we will request your fresh consent through the banner before any new optional cookies are set, as required by applicable law.
